How to update Lexmark drivers

Drivers are the software items that let your computer communicate with additional hardware such as printers, keyboards, mice and external drives. If your driver is outdated, you may not have access to all of your hardware's features, or you may encounter software bugs that have been fixed in later releases. Microsoft recommends letting Windows update your drivers automatically through the Windows Update program. But sometimes you have to check for driver updates manually if the Windows Update did not include drivers for your device.

You can manually update drivers by doing these steps:

  1. Click "Start."
  2. Click "Computer."
  3. Click "System Properties."
  4. Click "Device Manager."
  5. Locate the entry in the "Device Manager" for the hardware component you'd like to install driver updates for. Right click on the entry, and then click "Update Driver Software" to install the latest version of the driver for that device.

Or you can simply update your drivers by using Lexmark Drivers Download Utility:

  1. Download and install Lexmark Drivers Download Utility
  2. Enter Lexmark Drivers Download Utility
  3. Click “Start Scan”
  4. Download the updated drivers.
  5. Install the updated driver setup
  6. Restart computer if necessary
  7. Problem fixed!

In some cases, updated drivers can cause problems with your device or interact in an unforeseen manner with a program installed on your computer. As you might need to restore a device driver to a previous version when you encounter problems, you can back up the former one before installing the updated one by using Lexmark Drivers Download Utility.
